Description +

Our warm weather running socks combine Drymax fibres with PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) fibres to limit heat caused by excessive friction. This system incorporates PTFE fibres in the heel, forefoot, and toe areas of the socks. Additionally, to help keep feet cool, built-in open mesh vents release heat and moisture vapours.

PTFE has the lowest coefficient of friction of all fibres, making it the best choice for maintaining low friction between the skin and the sock. Low friction allows warm weather socks to stay cooler and drier, thereby reducing the risk of hot spots and blisters.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

Machine wash hot with similar colours. To bleach the socks, use non-chlorine alternatives. Tumble dry on low heat. Do not iron.

Do not use fabric softeners; they leave a residue on the fibres and fabrics, preventing them from functioning as intended. To remove fabric softeners, simply wash with detergent and rinse.

Do not use chlorine bleach.

Do not use skin lubricants.

36 % Drymax/Olefin, 22 % Polyester, 12 % Elastane, 4 % Nylon, 26 % PTFE

SPECIAL NOTICE: These socks are designed for extreme and prolonged outdoor use by professional climbers, ultramarathon runners, and experts to protect the health and safety of users in very wet and extreme conditions over long distances. They are not intended for general consumer use.

Why our ePTFE is safe:

Inertia and size: PTFE is a high molecular weight solid polymer and is chemically inert. It does not break down into smaller, more mobile PFAS under normal conditions and is not soluble in water.

Non-bioavailability: Due to its size and inertia, PTFE is not bioavailable. It does not accumulate in the body, does not interact with cells, and is not easily absorbed. This distinguishes it from smaller, more mobile PFAS that pose greater health and environmental concerns.

Low concern regarding toxicity: Scientific and regulatory bodies, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), have classified fluoropolymers like PTFE as "low concern polymers" because their properties make them low risk for human health and the environment.
